Solar Installations for Botswanas most remote rural schools

Botswana has many rural villages with no access to the National grid. The government of Botswana is in the process of uplifting these communities by supplying off grid power systems to the schools in these rural areas as well as to supply power to the teachers’ housing on site. Widowbird Solar Solutions was sub-contracted by various tender awardees to either supply only or fully install and commission these systems. In 2019 we fully installed and commissioned 3 of these school systems in 3 different villages (Kaudwane, Majwanaadapitse and Lenstwelemoriti.)

The systems each comprise of:

• 150 x 330 watt (50Kwp) Pv systems ground mounted
• 60Kva 3 phase off grid Systems (6x 10 Kva Victron Quattro Inverter Chargers)
• 1x Fronius Eco 27 Inverter
• 4x Victron 250/100 Smart Solar MpptS
• 1x Victron Color Control (For remote Monitoring and system control)
• 4 x Freedom Won
• 40 Kwh Lithium Iron Battery Packs (160Kwh total )
